PROMPERU and SIPPO successfully train Regional Governments in tourism trade fairs

In order to strengthen the presence of regional governments at international tourism fairs, PROMPERU and SIPPO organized a training workshop for the Regional Governments of Ancash, Loreto, Arequipa, La Libertad and Emufec of Cusco, to prepare them for participation in Anato's international fair in Colombia and ITB Berlin.

The activity had 4 international consultants, the consultant Eleonore Devillers from France, Lina Arango from Colombia with close feedback of Beatriz Martin and Jose María de Juan Alonso both from Spain.

In the pre-fair in Lima, the regions were trained in successful commercial promotion cases, the importance of destination sustainability, strategic planning, public perspective cases in the promotion of destinations, experiences in a tourist city and competitors, market trends, and participation in international fairs.

With the presence of the Export Promotion Manager, Manuel Puma of SIPPO Peru and in coordination with the consultants and Promperu, SIPPO supported regional governments in Colombia, thanks to the contribution of the SIPPO office in Bogotá with the SIPPO Country Representative in Colombia Amalia Vasquez who developed an agenda of meetings in Anato with the Colombian colleagues, important institutions and success cases at the regional level. The regions of Arequipa and Loreto participated actively in the meetings.

The Colombian institutions with which meetings were held were the secretaries and guilds of Atlantic tourism (Cultural tourism region, nature and MICE), the Coffee Cultural Landscape (Quindío, Risaralda and Caldas) and the Governor of Magdalena, Macondo Natural project. SIPPO participated in the launch of the Project Safari Llanero. Finally, PROMPERU and the regions were able to participate in a tour of PROCOLOMBIA's Colombia Travel Mart business roundtable to learn from this success story.

Due to the expansion of the Coronavirus, the most important Tourism Fair in the World ITB Berlin was unfortunately canceled by the German Government at the last moment, so SIPPO activities at trade fairs have been postponed for the WTM in London from November 2020.

SIPPO is working with PROMPERU to implement new activities and continue the positive work in the sustainable tourism sector and regional Governments.
